I won!

First - Here is finished project. It was made with leftover blocks from my Central Park quilt. I have started leaving hand projects in the car for my few minutes of time sitting at the bus stop, doctors office, baseball games. One done about 10 to go!

Second - I won one of the prizes from Amy's Creative Side Bloggers Quilt Festival! I never win anything. My prize was Cowboys Blessing Hanging from Prairie Moon Quilts (http://www.prairiemoonquilts.com/). The kit comes with all the fabric, embroidery floss, backing, pattern and a cute drawstring bag to store everything in. She also sent two adorable patterns to boot! Thank you Amy for doing the festival and Shelly from Prairie Moon for my prize!

Online Quilt Festival

Thanks for stopping by! I have been quilting for about 9 years but stopped for awhile after I had my two boys. The past few years I have become obssessed with quilting and spend my spare time quilting, thinking about quilting, looking at blogs, etc.

I thought I would share this quilt with you. It is an original design that I made for my sister-in-law after she lost her twins at 5 months along. It is called Flowers of Hope. It was a very painful time for our family and the quilt was thearaputic for me when making it. My brother and his wife are amazing people who have been through alot and have shown so much love and respect for each other along the way. So inspiring!

It was made with Frolic (I made 3 other quilts from this line). I tried applique with the flowers so they got a ragged edge once washed. For the quilting I attempted to do loops - so not my favorite technique but once washed it looked alot much better.

Thanks for visiting and remember to stop by and see the rest of the quilts in the festival http://amyscreativeside.com/2011/05/13/bloggers-quilt-festival-spring-2011/

My first pillow

It has been over a month since my last blog. I may not be sharing what I am working on but I have been busy. Both of my Connecting Threads quilts have been quilted and I just need to hand sew the binding on. I just finished quilting the Central park quilt this afternoon (my parents were sweet enough to take the boys for a few hours so I could finish it). I am hoping to get the binding sewn to the front tonight yet. I did get one more stocking done (This time I quilted the back too - I like it much better than just the piece of fabric, but am not going to tear my first one apart).

So now to my embroidery/quilting project that I am sooooo in love with. My youngest drew this person about about a month ago. I have been seeing people blog about embroidering their kids artwork so I decided to do that with person. Below is the pillow that I made it into.

I am so proud of it. He has only seen the embroidery part. We are celebrating his 5th birthday this coming weekend and will surprise him with the pillow. I might have to embroider another person just for me! I am trying to convince my oldest to let me do a piece of his artwork but he thinks it is lame. So I might have to sneak something with out him finding out!
