Collage of 2010 Finishes

I joined Flicker

I just joined Flicker. You can find a sampling of all my quilts from 2010 on there. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25196429@N02/

Look What Ventured into Our Yard

We had a racoon visit us today. It has been in the 40s the last few days with lots of fog so the photos are a little hard to see. He even climbed a tree.

The End of 2010

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had the stomach flu the weekend before. My sister and her family made it back from DC for Christmas. We had not seen them in 1.5 years and I got to meet my 6 month old niece. SO CUTE! Unforunately they got the stomach flu Xmas day so we had to stay away from them for a while. The boys had a wonderful time with their cousins and loved all their presents. Except for my youngest, we got him a snow board and he said his cousin could have it :)
I have some quilt photos to share when I get some time to put them on my computer. I finished a 12 Days of Christmas quilt - I love it so much I bought more fabric to make stockings and a tree skirt to match.
I started a double hourglass quilt using Fresh Squeezed by Sandy Gervais. I just have to sew the rows together. Today I started a small table mat of stars. It is a mini pattern using 1.25 inch squares. My machine is not cooperating with such small pieces of fabric so it is slow going.
Had a wonderful night out with my husband tonight, my work hosted a dinner for my department. The kids are sleeping at Grandma and Grandpas for the night. I am hoping to do a little sale shopping tomorrow then we will do movie night with the kids for New Year's Eve.
Hope everyone is doing well. Will do a post of photos soon. Have a great last day of the year. Happy New Year's!!

Now for the quilts

Along with the house remodel, we have been fighting the stomach flu and now a sinus infection. Also my dog has been put on prozac to try and control her peeing in the house. She was a stray I picked up on the side of the road and she pees whenever she is excited or nervous so basically we can't touch her. So far so good. Now on to the quilting!

This quilt is made from Denise Schmidt fabrics that I got in Minnesota this summer. I can't remember the name of the pattern, but it goes together very fast and is fun to do.

Here are a couple of Fruitcake tablerunners for teachers.

This pumpkin tablerunner was started almost 2 years ago. I finally finished it last week. I tried scalloped edges along the border - not too bad to do. The hand stitching of the wool pieces was why it took so long.

I started these squares  to be made into a pillow (I need three more) but I don't think I am cut out for the free quilting on these. It was very stressful to get these 6 done. I am planning on just making them into a tablerunner instead.
One more Fruitcake tablerunner. This is a Moda Bakeshop tutorial.

Here is my 12 Days of Christmas quilt. I saw this pattern on Moda Bakeshop and started it that same day. This and the Denise quilt are ready to be quilted. Hopefully I will start them this weekend. I plan on doing the Denise in a pebble pattern.
Well that is all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

I am alive!

I can't believe it has been over a month since I last posted. I have been very busy around the house. We finally got the drain tile and sump pump put in, retiled the basement, redid the downstairs and the upstairs bathroom. I finally have my house and my sewing room back.

Photos of the downstairs bathroom and my first Dresden plate and tumbler quilt. I still need to make a frame to put around the Dresden. I have always feared these thinking they were too hard but it was fun to do.

Upstairs bathroom - the walls are a very soothing blue-grey. My son says it is very pretty.
Also a couple photos of my sewing room.
I have also been very busy sewing xmas presents. I will be back with a post of the quilt projects. I need to make supper right now :)

It's Finally Done and I Love It!!

I have been working on this Frolic quilt for almost 6 months. Through a lot of issues (different colored blues, horrible loop quilting) I love it. The washing of it really helped the quilting look better. It is my pattern called Flowers of Hope. It is going to my sister-in-law who lost twin girls when she was 5 months pregnant. I never got to make them baby quilts so instead she gets one big quilt to wrap herself in.

I also got some tablerunners done for teachers gifts. Only a few more to go.

I have a few other projects I am working on but not ready to show photos - a tumbler runner for my bathroom, I am going to attempy a Dresdan plate for the bathroom as well (we are laying the tile this week - I might have my basement back by the end of the month!), also a wall quilt that I started over a year ago - just need to quilt and bind it. Take care.

Date night with my son

Tonight I took my oldest son shopping for pants, out for supper, and now we are watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was a nice way to end the week.

This week I finished this mini quilt. It was a fun little quilt to do. The template for it is available in 5 and 10-inch but I found a quilt store that has it in 3.5 inch.

I also finished the embroidery for a mini quilt too. I need to add the borders, quilt and bind.

I am working on stars for tablerunners. I have 3 more to make.

Cross These Projects Off My List

I was able to get some projects done this week.
3 Halloween tablerunners - one for me, one for my mom and the other went to school for a fundraiser. I LOVE the black backing fabric that I used for two of the runners.

3 Owlivias. One for my new niece who I made this baby quilt for. The other large one and the baby will go to my other niece and her American Girl doll. I made the quilt and pillow in my header for her birthday this summer.

1 Xmas table runner that will go to the school fundraiser also. I have 2 more that need to be bound.

I also finished quilting this Frolic quilt. I decided to do this in loops. I have discovered that loops and I don't get along.

I started a few new projects but am not far enough along for photos. Hopefully this afternoon or evening I will get more sewing time.

Take care!

Life Update

I spent Thursday and Friday in Madison WI at the Quilt Expo. Lots of great vendors and classes. I was very good and didn't go overboard with the spending.
Now I am playing catch-up on life back home.
Here is my quilting to-do list (hopefully to have done soon!!)
1. Bind 2 Halloween table runners and add the spider buttons
2. Bind 3 Xmas table runners and 4 coasters
3. Quilt and bind Xmas quilt
4. Finish 2 Owlivia owls (this is a Sandy Gervais pattern) so cute!
5. Finish quilting and binding Frolic quilt
6. Finish applique, quilt and bind Fall table quilt that I started last summer
7. Do embroidery on cute mini quilt pattern that I bought in Madison

Not sure how doable it all is, plus work 40 hours this week, soccer practice and games, and get our basement ready for the waterproofers who are coming in a week!!! Maybe by Thanksgiving I will have my sewing room back together. Take care. I will try and post photos of the Quilt Expo and my projects soon.

Quilting Time!

I have actually had some time this week to quilt! I got the Halloween pinwheel quilt done except for the binding. I found these cute spiders to add to the spiderweb that I quilted on each block. So cute!

I have also been working on a Christmas quilt using a jelly roll.

A little quilting progress

I finally started quilting this quilt. I chose to do a loop design. I made the loops pretty small so it is slow going.

I needed a break from this quilt and found this cute Halloween fabric.
And spent the day making a tablerunner. And eating some ice cream.
My husband took the boys to Grandma's for a few hours so I had some quiet time all to myself! Pure heaven.
He also said I could buy a new sewing machine! Not sure what kind to get. Time to do some research :)

Back to reality

This is where I have spent the last 5 days. Pure heaven! We went to the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota for...
Beautiful sunsets

Lots of fishing
Wonderful water views
The boys loved the sand, kayaks and being able to just drop your pole into the water to get fish. It was a great trip!

While we were there I was able to finish all of my hexagons. Now I need to decide what to do with them.

I was also able to stop by Country Fabrics and Quilting in Brainerd. They won 1st place in the Quilt Minnesota Store Display sponsored by Moda. This was a wonderful store. A great mixture of fabrics - batiks, Moda, Amy Butler, wool, flannels. I walked away with some Hope Valley by Densye Schmidt and some Amy Butler - I think from her Midwest Modern line but not positive.
